PHANTOM2K & MAX Warranty Explained Simply

The manufacturer warranty is optional coverage. It is not what makes PHANTOM2K or MAX durable.

The Coating Stands on Its Own

PHANTOM2K is rated for 15+ years and MAX G+ for 10+ years depending on environmental factors. Their long-term protection comes from the coating technology itself, not from the warranty.

What the Lifetime Warranty Adds

System X currently offers lifetime manufacturer warranty coverage for qualifying PHANTOM2K and MAX automotive installations when the coating is installed and registered through an accredited installation center and the applicable warranty requirements are maintained.

Annual Maintenance Has a Fee

If you choose to maintain the manufacturer warranty, required yearly inspection or maintenance visits are paid services. They are not included free for the life of the coating, and we will explain the current System X requirements before registration.

Our recommendation: choose PHANTOM2K or MAX because you want one of System X’s highest-durability coating systems, not because you feel obligated to buy a warranty. If you value the additional manufacturer warranty coverage, we can register it and explain the annual paid maintenance requirement before your installation.

The Ceramic Coating Process

The coating is only one part of the result. Proper cleaning, decontamination, inspection, and paint correction are necessary before installation so the coating is applied to a properly prepared surface.

STEP 01

Wash

The exterior is thoroughly cleaned to remove loose dirt, road film, and surface contamination.

STEP 02

Decontaminate

Bonded contaminants are addressed so the paint is clean and smooth before coating preparation continues.

STEP 03

Inspect

The paint is evaluated for swirls, oxidation, water spotting, scratches, and other visible defects.

STEP 04

Paint Correction

Paint correction is performed to refine the paint and prepare the surface before the coating is installed.

STEP 05

Coat

The selected System X coating is applied to the properly prepared surface and allowed to set according to the product process.

What Ceramic Coating Does — and Does Not Do

Ceramic coating is a protection product, not a substitute for paint repair or proper washing. Setting the right expectations is part of choosing the right service.

Enhances Gloss

A properly prepared and coated surface can look deeper, glossier, and more reflective while maintaining the underlying character of the paint.

Improves Water Behavior

Hydrophobic properties help water bead and release more readily, making routine cleaning and drying easier.

Does Not Make Paint Damage-Proof

Ceramic coating does not make paint immune to rock chips, deep scratches, improper washing, clear-coat failure, or physical impact damage.

Ceramic Coating vs Traditional Wax

Which Type of Protection Is Right for Your Vehicle?

Both ceramic coating and traditional wax can improve your vehicle’s appearance, but they are built for very different goals. Wax provides a shorter-term finish boost that requires frequent reapplication. Ceramic coating is the stronger long-term choice for owners who want more durable protection, better gloss retention, stronger hydrophobic performance, and easier routine maintenance.

Feature / BenefitBEST LONG-TERM PROTECTIONCeramic CoatingSHORT-TERM SHINETraditional Wax
Primary benefitLong-term protection and glossShort-term shine and protection
Water behaviorStrong hydrophobic performanceGood water repellency when fresh
MaintenanceEasier routine washingRequires more frequent reapplication
LongevityDesigned to last for years depending on the coating, environment, and maintenanceTypically lasts weeks to a few months before protection noticeably declines
DurabilityMuch more resistant to weather, washing, heat, and environmental exposureBreaks down considerably faster under regular washing and weather exposure
UV protectionProvides stronger long-term resistance against UV exposure and oxidationOffers more limited, shorter-lived protection from sun exposure
Chemical resistanceBetter resistance to road grime, environmental contamination, and chemical exposureMore vulnerable to detergents, fallout, and harsher contaminants
Gloss retentionMaintains a deeper, cleaner gloss for substantially longerInitial shine fades sooner and requires regular reapplication to restore it
Reapplication frequencyInstalled far less frequently because protection is designed for long-term serviceRequires repeated application to maintain shine and protection
Long-term valueHigher initial investment with stronger long-term durability and less frequent reapplicationLower upfront cost, but protection must be renewed much more often
Best forOwners who want long-term protection, easier maintenance, and premium paint preservationOwners who want a lower-cost, short-term cosmetic enhancement

Ceramic Coating FAQ

How long does ceramic coating last?

It depends on the coating selected, preparation, vehicle use, storage, washing habits, and maintenance. System X Pro is rated for 6 years, MAX G+ is rated for 10+ years depending on environmental factors, and Phantom 2K is rated for 15+ years. MAX MF is the matte-friendly MAX option for matte and satin finishes.

Does ceramic coating remove scratches?

No. Ceramic coating protects the surface after preparation; it does not remove existing scratches. If your vehicle has swirl marks, oxidation, etching, or other paint defects, paint correction may be recommended before coating.

Is paint correction always required before ceramic coating?

Not necessarily. The correct preparation depends on the condition of the paint and the result you want. We inspect the vehicle first and recommend correction only when it is appropriate for the surface and your goals.

Does ceramic coating prevent rock chips and deep scratches?

No. Ceramic coating adds a protective surface layer and helps with gloss, hydrophobic behavior, and maintenance, but it does not make the paint immune to impact damage, rock chips, deep scratches, or improper washing.

Is ceramic coating better than wax?

They serve different goals. Wax is a shorter-term protection and shine option. Ceramic coating is designed for owners who want more durable protection, stronger hydrophobic performance, and easier maintenance over a longer period.

Do I need the PHANTOM2K or MAX lifetime warranty?

No. The warranty is optional additional manufacturer coverage, not the source of the coating’s durability. PHANTOM2K is rated for 15+ years and MAX G+ for 10+ years depending on environmental factors. If you choose to maintain the manufacturer lifetime warranty, System X requires annual inspections/maintenance, and those yearly maintenance visits are paid services.

Do you come to my home or office?

Yes. Shyne offers mobile ceramic coating service in Orange County, Long Beach, and Ada County at suitable service locations where the coating can be installed under appropriate conditions.
